Enjoy a night of 19th Century activities and fireworks, and music from the Olathe Civic Band on July 7th at Mahaffie Stagecoach Stop & Farm! The event is FREE. Some activities have a small fee. (Due to the recent rain, please wear sturdy shoes or shoes that can get dirty)
Schedule of activities:
6 to 9 p.m.
-Take a stagecoach ride ($3/person, ages 3 and up)
-Visit the Mahaffie house, Agricultural Heritage Livestock Barn and Heritage Center
-Watch blacksmith and cookstove demonstrations
-Due to the ground conditions, 19th Century batting practice is canceled. All other activities are on schedule.
-Decorate your bicycle, stroller or wagon and take part in the bike parade
-Listen to the sounds of the Olathe Civic Band and sing along to patriotic music
-Hear the reading of the Declaration of Independence, followed by a cannon firing
-Watch low profile 19th Century firework set display pieces light the night, viewed only from the Mahaffie grounds. *In case of inclement weather, the fireworks display may begin earlier in the evening.
Boy Scout Troop 494 will have funnel cakes, fried Oreos, hot dogs and more available for purchase. Doc's Root Beer will also be available.
Please park in the Heritage Center parking lot. Picnics, lawn chairs and blankets are welcome!
